Only weeks before we headed to Houston Quilt Market & Festival we found out that we were expecting! It was news that we didn’t think that we’d have the excitement of receiving for quite some time and we’ve been through the whole whirlwind of emotions over the last seven to eight months!
As of today we’ve made it to 38 weeks! We have a (mostly) completed nursery, drawers full of tiny outfits and supplies that we’ve been collecting and gifted from beautiful family and friends and we’re feeling as safe and secure as two new parents could possibly be as we’re enveloped in love and reassurance by our family and tribe.

As a small business owner that works from home, I’ve been a little unsure as to how to move forward with Amy Kallissa – will I have time to keep up with both the wholesale and retail orders that come through?! Will I be able to keep an eye on bubs and keep the studio open on its regular days?! There’s just so much uncertainty and I really want to be able to maintain a happy and positive environment without stressing anyone out!
In moving forward, I have decided to temporarily pause the Sit & Sews, Sip & Sews and Open Studio dates until I’m in a position where I can confidently juggle everything again! As far as online and wholesale orders go, with the help of Mum and local friends I’ll endeavour to keep things turning over as quickly as I can and will keep customers and stockists as up to date as possible with turn around times. Please note that there will be a few days at some point in the next couple of weeks where I’ll obviously be in hospital though and may not be available to reach!
I’ll also be taking the time to work on a new design or two and also some larger projects that have been in the works. New products will also continue to be added to the website and if I’m lucky enough to have a spare half hour or so, we might even be able to get some more Sunday Sewcial’s scheduled over on the Amy Kallissa Sew-ciety Facebook Group!
I’ve been incredibly overwhelmed in the last month with beautiful gifts, cards, words of encouragement, love and support from so many of you that have visited and reached out and I’d just like to thank you all so much! I’m so grateful for everyone’s ongoing support both personally and for Amy Kallissa as our lives change and our little family grows!
Happy Stitching,
Amy x

Hi Amy, you’ve always been an inspiration to me since I met you in Mildura years ago doing one of your workshops at a craft fair. I love that you have such a successful and creative business doing something that you love, and I love how organically your business started. I wish you all the best with your baby and in adapting your business around the new changes. Remain true to yourself and I’m sure you’ll do beautifully. xx
Awww thank you so much lovely! Hope you’re doing well! x
Gosh Amy. So much happening. Wishing you and Jim so much happiness and love in the next few weeks with your bub. I am sorry I haven’t been up, I have had a lot going in with my Dad and his health. I believe I have a fabric bundle to collect. Also, so keen to get into one of your lovely scrappy quilts.
If you are at the shop one Friday maybe let me know and I can sneak in.
Looking forward to seeing you and your beautiful bundle soon.
